Transport Fever 3 distance fleet calculator

Plan a two-stop service before measuring a complete cycle. The Transport Fever 3 distance fleet calculator estimates round-trip time and rounds vehicle requirements up to meet your target transport volume.

Required fleet size

The rounded fleet covers the entered transport target.

Estimated round-trip cycle
1,040 seconds
Round-trip travel time
960 seconds
Output per vehicle per selected period
56.15 units
Departure interval
47.27 seconds
Planned transport capacity
1,235.38 units / selected period
Capacity above the target
35.38 units

Calculation method & limits

Travel seconds = 2 × one-way route km ÷ average km/h × 3600. Add loading and unloading seconds to get the round-trip cycle. Per-vehicle output = usable capacity × loaded directions × period seconds ÷ cycle seconds. Fleet size rounds target / per-vehicle output up. The 1460-second example period is a research scenario, not a verified TF3 year conversion; replace it with a period consistent with your measurements.

Estimate vehicles with a Transport Fever 3 distance fleet calculator

Use a Transport Fever 3 distance fleet calculator when a route exists only as a construction plan. It combines route length and average travel speed with handling time, rather than assuming that top speed lasts for the whole journey. This provides a first fleet estimate for a bus or cargo connection with two terminals. Once the line runs, compare the estimated cycle with your observation and move to the measured line planner if acceleration, signals or congestion change it substantially. The distance fleet calculator deliberately makes the transport period visible so that units per hour are not confused with an unverified game-year conversion.

How to use this Transport Fever 3 calculator

  1. Measure one-way route length along the road or track and enter a plausible average speed. A vehicle's top speed is not its average speed over stops, hills and junctions. Add loading and unloading in seconds once per round trip.
  2. Enter vehicle capacity, load factor and one or two loaded directions. Choose two only when there is an actual return load with comparable capacity; an empty return still takes travel time but does not double delivered units.
  3. Enter both the target volume and the corresponding period in seconds. Use 3600 for a real-time hour when all other measurements use that clock. Compare the Transport Fever 3 distance fleet calculator result with a trial fleet before expanding.

A worked planning example

Eight kilometres each way at an average 60 km/h give 960 seconds of travel. Add 40 seconds loading and 40 unloading: the cycle is 1040 seconds. With 40 units, full loading, one loaded direction and an explicitly chosen 1460-second observation period, a target of 1200 needs 22 vehicles. A target of 2400 needs 43; carrying equivalent loads both ways reduces that requirement to 22. The period reproduces the research example and does not establish an official TF3 calendar rule.

What to do with the result

The fleet size calculator rounds up because a fraction of a vehicle cannot meet the full transport target. The resulting departure interval is a planning average. Vehicles can bunch up, queue at terminals or share a route with other services. Check station throughput before assigning a large fleet, and check the budget with the route profit calculator. For transfers across different modes, use the cargo line planner to size each leg independently.

Calculator questions

Why does this Transport Fever 3 fleet calculator ask for average speed?

Average speed represents the time spent moving over your actual route. Using top speed usually makes the cycle too short and understates required vehicles. Replace the estimate with measured round-trip time when the route becomes available.

Is the example period the length of a Transport Fever 3 year?

No. It is an explicit example input carried over from the research record. Keep target volume and cycle timing on the same basis, and enter the duration you actually measured. The distance fleet calculator does not secretly convert calendars.
