Transport Fever 3 ownership cost calculator
Look beyond the first purchase. This Transport Fever 3 ownership cost calculator totals running costs, separate maintenance, planned replacements and end-of-scenario resale for a fleet.

Your planning result
Net ownership cost with replacements
The entered scenario has a net ownership expense.
- Base ownership cost without replacement
- 237,600 money
- Initial fleet investment
- 200,000 money
- Total running and extra maintenance
- 57,600 money
- Replacement investment
- 120,000 money
- Terminal resale proceeds
- 20,000 money
- Net ownership cost per vehicle
- 89,400 money
- Average net cost per period
- 29,800 money / period
Calculation method & limits
Base net ownership cost = fleet × [purchase + periods × (running + extra maintenance) − terminal resale]. The replacement scenario adds fleet × replacements per vehicle × replacement price. Average cost divides by the number of periods. Extra maintenance must exclude costs already included in running cost. Replacement timing, inflation, discounting, tax and downtime are not simulated.
Compare fleet budgets with the Transport Fever 3 ownership cost calculator
A Transport Fever 3 ownership cost calculator helps compare a purchase with the expenses that follow it. A cheap vehicle is not necessarily cheap to keep for a long time, while replacing a fleet creates another capital requirement. Choose one ownership horizon and one currency, then add measured running expenses, separately identifiable maintenance, planned replacements and final resale. The total ownership cost calculator is a scenario workbook: it uses the observations you enter and does not predict the game's age-related maintenance curve.
How to use this Transport Fever 3 calculator
- Enter the fleet size, purchase price and number of periods. A period can be a month, year or another observation window as long as running and maintenance costs use exactly that same basis.
- Enter running cost and only the additional maintenance not already included in it. Set extra maintenance to zero if the observed running cost already covers the full recurring expense. Enter replacement count per original vehicle and a stated replacement price.
- Use the Transport Fever 3 ownership cost calculator to compare the base scenario with the replacement scenario. Include terminal resale once per vehicle; receipts from intermediate sales require a separate adjusted scenario.
A worked planning example
Four vehicles cost 50000 each. Over 12 periods, running cost is 1000 and separate maintenance 200 per vehicle per period. One replacement costs 30000 per vehicle, and terminal resale is 5000 each. Initial investment is 200000, recurring cost 57600, replacements 120000 and resale proceeds 20000. Net total is 357600, or 29800 per period on average. Without replacement, the scenario totals 237600.
What to do with the result
Average ownership cost spreads upfront expenses for comparison; it is not the cash required in each period. Keep enough cash for the actual purchase and replacement dates. Use the vehicle comparator to compare fleets that serve the same demand, and the route profit calculator to compare continuing revenue against recurring costs. The ownership cost calculator adds the longer investment horizon needed for a Transport Fever 3 fleet replacement decision.
Calculator questions
Does this Transport Fever 3 ownership cost calculator simulate vehicle ageing?
No. Enter the running and maintenance values you want to compare. Changes in age, maintenance policy, difficulty or mods need observations from your save rather than an assumed universal curve.
Why is the average cost larger than the recurring running cost?
It also allocates purchases and replacements across the selected horizon, then subtracts terminal resale. That makes alternatives comparable but does not turn capital spending into the actual monthly finance-panel charge.
