Transport Fever 3 Mods Not Showing Up: Visibility Checklist
Find an installed TF3 mod by checking world activation, content type, vehicle availability, manual package structure and duplicate mod identifiers.

For Transport Fever 3 mods not showing up, first identify the list where you expected the item. Mod Hub search, the installed list, a world's active mods and the vehicle purchase menu are separate places. An item appearing in one does not guarantee it belongs in all four.
Which list is missing the item?
If the item is absent from Mod Hub search, open the author's exact listing link and check the game and supported platforms. Remove optional search filters and search by author as well as title. A TF2 listing with the same locomotive name is not the TF3 release you need.
If download progress never finished, work through the download failure guide first. A page saying you subscribed is not evidence that the files reached the device. When the installed entry is present but the world has no visible change, continue with activation and content checks below.
Decide what visible result would count as success before altering files. For example, a repaint should offer the documented variation of its base vehicle; it need not create a separate depot category. A map download may appear during world selection rather than inside an already generated map.
Transport Fever 3 mods not showing up in the active world
Create a separate small Free Game and inspect its Add Mods tab. The official manual documents Activate controls there. Select the intended addition and resolve displayed dependency warnings before starting. Merely browsing the installed library is not the same as choosing the world's active set.
For an existing save, use its settings only if that save permits editing the mod list. Keep a copy of the original. If the save warns that a required package is missing, write down the exact name or ID; adding a different mod with a similar display name does not necessarily satisfy it.
If the clean world shows the addition but the old world does not, compare their active sets and settings. Reinstalling the same files repeatedly is unlikely to resolve a world-specific activation difference.
Look in the menu the author actually describes
Classify the addition before searching menus:
- Vehicles and repaints: use the correct vehicle type and depot, then check the year and any availability conditions stated by the author. Clear purchase filters that could hide a matching item.
- Stations and construction assets: inspect the documented construction or module category. A station module may be an option while editing a station rather than a new stand-alone building.
- Maps and generators: return to the new-world or map-selection workflow. Installing a generator does not automatically regenerate an existing landscape.
- Interface or script helpers: follow the author's access instructions. A helper can add a button or alter an existing action without creating any purchasable asset.
The minimap author's README, for example, describes a globe control and a controller access route. Looking only in the vehicle purchase list would miss the feature. This illustrates why the listing's usage instructions matter; it is not an endorsement or a hardware test.
Inspect a manual package without rewriting it
TF3's official definition puts mod.json and content inside the mod's directory. Confirm that you extracted the actual release into userdata's mods directory and did not leave it inside an additional archive wrapper. The folder guide helps distinguish that location from Mod Hub's managed files and a creator's staging_area.
Avoid importing TF2's mod.lua and version-suffix rules. The TF3 package identity comes from modId, and folder names do not have the same functional role as in earlier games. The definition also permits a creator to hide an item with visible: false. If an author intentionally uses that setting for campaign content, do not change it merely to force an entry into the general list.
Duplicate IDs can explain Transport Fever 3 mods not showing up as the revision you expected. Staging and manual copies take priority over subscribed copies. Check whether an old local copy shadows the current download, and preserve it before making changes.
Use a controlled visibility test
Record the listing, platform, revision, active world, relevant year and expected menu. Start with just the affected addition and its dependencies. Capture the active list and the menu where you looked. If the content appears, save and reload the test so you can tell whether the result persists.
When reporting Transport Fever 3 mods not showing up, include those two views and state the expected result. If activation succeeds but a feature crashes or behaves incorrectly, move to the working-state checklist; visibility and functionality are different tests.
